Sternstudio Galerie 19.6. – 6.7.2024
Im Grunde genommen sind es Farbuntersuchungen. Ich könnte die ausgestellten Farbstelen auch Notationen oder Portraits nennen, was sie ja auch sind. Nicht umsonst tragen sie meist Namen. Sie beziehen sich immer auf vorgefundene Objekte und stellen einen persönlichen und doch abstrakten Bezug zu verschiedenen Realitäten her. Sie zitieren filmische oder bildliche Räume und sind immer nahe am Architektonischen. Die Stelen nehmen eine flottierende Position zwischen Malerei und Gegenstand ein. Die Farbtafeln sind im Raum platziert und lehnen an der Wand. Sie sind uns zugewandt. Sie reflektieren Zusammenhänge und Ordnungen und schaffen dabei neue Beziehungen. Sie sind konkrete Farbkeile, die uns unserer momentanen Wahrnehmung versichern. Sie vergewissern uns einer Welt der Präsenz, so provisorisch und fragil diese auch erscheinen mag.
ELECTIVE AFFINITIES. GROUP PICTURE WITH COLOR Basically, they are color studies. I could also call the exhibited color steles notations or portraits, which is what they are. It’s not for nothing that they usually have names. They always refer to found objects and create a personal and yet abstract reference to various realities. They quote cinematic or pictorial spaces and are always close to the architectural. The steles take up a floating position between painting and object. The color panels are placed in the room and lean against the wall. They are turned towards us. They reflect contexts and orders and create new relationships in the process. They are concrete wedges of color that assure us of our momentary perception. They reassure us of a world of presence, however provisional and fragile it may appear.

An diesem Nachmittag wird die Mayergasse für ein paar Stunden von parkenden Autos befreit, um die Farbtafeln im öffentlichen Raum der erweiterten Galerie auszuprobieren. Die Bildtafeln werden von den Besucher:innen arrangiert und für eine Kamerafahrt in Szene gesetzt. Das fertige Video „Wahlverwandtschaften. Gruppenbild mit Farbe“ wird eine Woche später in der Galerie uraufgeführt.
Performance: Wednesday, June 26, 3 p.m. On this afternoon, Mayergasse will be cleared of parked cars for a few hours to try out the color panels in the public space of the extended gallery. The panels will be arranged by the visitors and staged for a tracking shot. The finished video „Wahlverwandtschaften. Group picture with color“ will be premiered in the gallery one week later.
